Investing in the right Search agency pays interest for thinkmoney

thinkmoney is a budgeting fintech company, specialising in digital-first current accounts and lending products. They came to us looking to improve rankings and conversions (applications).

They were receiving a high volume of traffic to the site but it wasn’t converting. Equally, there was a wide range of content on the site, but it was ranking for unrelated terms and therefore having little impact on thinkmoney’s goals. These rankings were skewing data and search metrics and a new approach was desperately needed.

The Brief:

As mentioned, there was a high volume of traffic to the thinkmoney site, but it wasn’t converting. Equally, there was a wide range of content on the site, but it was ranking for unrelated terms and therefore having little impact on thinkmoney’s goals. These rankings were skewing data and search metrics and a new approach was desperately needed.

Objectives of the campaign were to improve metrics on current account pages and increase applications, to improve the quality and depth of content on the site and directly improve the traffic and conversion to the current account category of their site, gain relevant, high-quality links and coverage to improve visibility and authority, and it’s safe to say Evolved Search managed to deliver on all counts.

The Evolved Search approach:

  • The site was ranking for queries not relating to finance due to old blog posts. We removed over 6,000 low-quality blog posts, leaving roughly 2,000 on-topic, which improved the site’s overall E-A-T.
  • We focused on informational, high-quality content in the form of guides and advice to help the user and improve our expertise in this area. As above, clarity is important to the target customer, so we wanted to ensure thinkmoney were taking advantage of every opportunity to inform and educate.
  • Completed an SEO website migration from previous CMS to Gatsby JS. This enabled us to optimise the performance of the site and implement technical changes to accelerate growth.
  • Created Budgeting/Protecting your Money and Going Cashless guide hubs and produced detailed, onsite content to help promote thinkmoney as an online banking resource.
  • To tie in with promoting thinkmoney as a budgeting resource, we have created numerous high-value content marketing campaigns (including reactive news pieces) that targeted personal finance sites and wider mainstream news outlets relevant to the brand’s target audience, to help build awareness of the bank. Content pieces also appeared on the lifestyle news sites that the target customer was shown to regularly visit, improving brand awareness of thinkmoney and keeping the brand front-of-mind.
